Back from Millenia Walk.

Voice exam today was awful. Simply awful.

I never sing in places that are dry or (relatively) cold, except the PT (which also happens to be a bad place for me to sing, but we'll discuss that later) so when I stepped into Millenia Walk today, something was telling me it wasn't going to be good.

In Kawai music school, I suddenly had the most awful feeling in my throat. Excess phlegm production, for god knows what reason. Anyway it started choking up my singing and everything, despite me trying to keep proper technique the bloody phlegm kept getting in my way. So that's Ave Maria gone, because even though I started out okay, I wound up cracking somewhere near the climax of the song. Which just killed the mood. Ugh.

It wasn't as if Per La Gloria D'adorarvi was any good at all. The only song which was decent was A Green Cornfield. Maybe my aural and sightreading will pull me up somewhat. The examiner asked if I had perfect pitch - which of course I don't, but that probably means that at least I managed to get most of the note-pitches right. So that's a relief. Aural seemed alright.

So, about singing in the PT. I guess right now the PT seems fine to me because previously I'd only been singing as a minor, but now that I'm switching to voice major I'm gonna be singing in a whole new light in the PT. Apart from now actually having to bring a bottle of water up on stage, I'm also going to have to start taking even better care of my voice, which kinda sucks cos it means I'm gonna have to abstain from fried foods for a longer period before my exam to keep it in top shape. Of course then there's the phlegm problem, which I need to find a solution to.

I wish I'd found out about this earlier, but good grief now I just wish I had some Mucinex, Guaifenesin, or some sort of mucolytic agent. I think I'll go get some before my CT2s or A levels and see how that works. I need to find some way of relieving that excess phlegm production problem.

DAMN PHLEGM. I just saw my hopes of passing for Grade 7 being flushed down the drain.
