WizRock Awareness!

Today is Wizard Rock Awareness Day, and I am proud to say I am promoting this wonderful, wonderful genre of amazing music.

Here's the video that started it all for me.

And I still love Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls. The only annoying thing about Wrock is that you can't buy it in stores; mostly it's an online, Paypal-and-post sort of movement if you want to buy music. But it's worth all the effort, because the emotion and amazing people in wrock are worth it. Not to mention the music is fun and hilarious.

It started out back in '07 after I met Rif and hit it off talking about Wrock. Wasn't long after that I briefly was in the Department of Rock, together with Adrianna. We were an amusing band, none of the members ever having met. Eventually Adrianna and I dropped out, so there's only Rif there now. Although I think the whole DoR's just kinda died now, but oh well. Sadly the O levels in that year caused me to really lose out on time to pay attention to wrock, so I almost completely forgot about it.

Recently I picked up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for the - can you believe it? - third time. I know, I'm disgusted at myself, too. But whenever I find myself immersed in a good bit of Hogwarts, it's like falling in love for the first time all over again, because you're wrapped up in that fantasy world - only it's not really fantasy, cos it's life on a page, really. There's so many parallels that Hogwarts has with the real world, no one can say it's really fiction.

It's hard to explain what wrock is all about until you're really immersed in it - so if you've got time to spare, do check out:
Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls
The Quaffle Kids (I still can't get enough of the Common Welsh Green!)
Ministry of Magic
The Moaning Myrtles
Riddle TM
And several more. Every band is worth listening to, but if I were to list them all, I'd probably be done next week. So just head on down to the Wizrocklopedia to find out more ;D

Here's me ending off then, for now. Wrockstock 2009 is in November - watch out for it - and for more Harry Potter, as always, there's the Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet! Pick up a copy of Jingle Spells (both the original and Jingle Spells 2), too. I would have if I'd had a Paypal. D:

So here's something to leave you ending off with ;D Don't Throw That Book At Me, by the Moaning Myrtles.
