So we bid arrivederci to 2007 in an hour and a half, which has been a completely awesome year without a doubt. All sorts of really fun stuff, packed to the full with performances and chemical experiments and studying/mugging for the O's. The last year as a KC girl, or at least on paper, because being a KC girl isn't about what school's on the report book. Being a KC girl is a lifestyle ;D It's been hectic but it's also been brill.

THE 2007 ROUNDUP.
Everything starts with a beginning, and so this beginning is on the first of January 2007. The 6D reunion; although not everyone was there, it was brilliant nonetheless. We got to see everyone again, which isn't something you get to look forward to every day, your old class in Tao Nan :)

It's been one heck of a choir year, with EMDD at the Victoria Theatre and Book&Music week and the SYF. Never mind that we got a silver although we were hoping for a gold, but I think I'd be happy with whatever result the judges gave us as long as the choir knows we've done the best we can :)

I WATCHED PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ON STAGE, LIVE, FOR THE FIRST TIME. The Best Musical Ever Written, and I got to see it live! It was completely awesome, at the Esplanade with Annabelle, I would so go to see it again if ever I got the chance to :)

Family Day 2007, the sec fours were excused from having to set up stalls and all that. Even so, 405's been a great class to be in, most of us went for Family Day anyhow. Fuzzy's been an awesome chairwoman, and Mrs Chua's the most awesome form teacher. All the teachers have been really great, actually, they make 2007 the best. While the impending thought of the O's would have brought spirits down, KC and the whole family environment made everything alright and even pretty upbeat <3

There were the mid-year O levels, Chinese. I'm pretty happy with my B3 for that, even though it was Chinese hell for a while. Essays every single day/week, I can't really remember, and memorising stuff everywhere. It wasn't fun at all, but I think the result really paid off. I'm happy with my B3 ;D

I played my first accompaniment piece - Schumann's Romance Op. 94, with Desmond the Clarinetist. Never played an accompaniment before so it was really new, but it teaches a pianist some really important skills about cooperating with others in a piece. Especially as the piano is such a solo instrument, it can be tough to suddenly find yourself playing together with others - but this accompaniment was a really great experience, learning more about music.

The 'highlights' of the whole year: The O levels and prelims. Four years of cramming, mugging, studying latenights, determined and examined in the space of a few hours, stretched over six weeks (all practicals included). I can't say I was disappointed with myself though, I think I might've done pretty alright.

There was the studying every day at Cafe Galilee or Burger King with Deborah, with Minoru sometimes coming along, and Fern and Meiying. Quite possibly the most studious I've got within the past 10 years of my life, I'd never been this self-motivated xD We actually planned studying together, without parents needing to come in and yell at us to study everything, we wanted to do well so we did whatever we could to make sure that'd happen.

Bio/lit/chem/music/english/chinese/geog/ss/emath/amath.

And then, more recently, there was VJCHOIR <3 Christmas caroling with the uber-friendly VJChoir, which was really fun - although tiring - walking from the Ritz Carlton to Raffles Hotel, coming home at 10+pm every night, but all worth it cos it's been so much fun. Especially when we're walking along Citylink or Marina Square and one of us starts singing, and then everyone starts joining in and before you know it there's a walking, singing choir xD

A Christmas to Remember, Auntie Shireen's first concert. It was really fun, well-planned for a first, although the preparations for everything were quite hectic at times. It was less stressful than EMDD, definitely, but that doesn't mean that a performer's allowed to slack on her standard of a piece.

Plans for the EOY chalet (Deb, Sam, Meiying, Faith, Fern, etc) were scrapped but at least we got the Coke/Mentos thing done ;D Never mind that this year's been crazy at times, but it's been really brill overall. I can most definitely say that, thanks to brilliant and awesome friends who just keep laughing everything through, 2007 has been the best year of my 16 years of life, so far.

Here's to hoping 2008 turns out equally awesome ;D

P.S. I'll blog about the Coke/Mentos thing tomorrow.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Well, belated Christmas, since it's the 26th now. Still, Happy Christmas!

Had breakfast with the Year 0's today. Lol we're having so many 'year 0 outings', as we're calling them, it's fun. Met at City Hall and went to Marina Square (gosh, we're going there a lot these days). Intended on Subway but Wensiu and I decided to have Burger King instead. But we were very nearly late for choir because we just took our time at BK, so it was a half-walk-half-run to the Ritz xD

Anyway, the reception at the Ritz was awesome. I think people really enjoyed the singing, lol. Headed over to the Raffles again after first having lunch at the Ritz, and then there was Reunion Caroling with VC! It was awesome, lol. The place was completely packed, but the sound was brill. Really brill.

Finished caroling pretty early compared to the previous days, and then exchange of presents - the Santa/Santa Baby thing! I gave my present to Novabelle on the 24th, hope she likes it. My Santa was Desmond, lol. He gave me Rachel Gibson's "Sex, Lies, and Online Dating". It was pretty amusing, opening the giftwrap and seeing a book with that sort of title. It's interesting though, serial killers and all. Thanks, Desmond!

Went out with the Year 0's again for dinner, watched I Am Legend with Rhoda and lot. There were 10 of us, but we seperated into three groups in three rows cos there wasn't any row with 10 available seats, I think. I Am Legend was awesome, although a wee bit like House of the Dead. Especially the scene where Robert Neville was shooting the infected person who was gonna jump on to him. Nearly wanted to cry, though, the bit when he had to kill Samantha was heartbreaking :( Rhoda was screaming throughout the movie, lol. Shock horror. Ivor Rhovor said he suffered from immense pain in his right ear, poor person xD

Show ended pretty early, only about 9-ish. Headed straight home though, it's Christmas after all ;D Here's my sorry to the fam for not being able to spend Christmas with you all. On Christmas Eve too, coming home so late after caroling :/ Nearly 10pm when I reached home, I think. And then just eating loads (my third dinner that night) and stoning away in my room after that, being dead tired.

I think I'll probably be spending Christmas with the choir for the next two years - up to J2 at least. Oh well, student life and all. I love my choir though<3

So, today. A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER!

It was completely awesome. So, got to the YMS at 1.15pm thereabouts. Had normal rehearsals until about 2.30ish, when the show started. Met Faith and Annabelle to give them their tickets before the concert, though.

It was pretty fun, seeing all the wee ones at what was probably their first experience with stage. Oh well, it's all the name of fundraising, so ;D

Few hitches with technical stuff though, had to do Thousand Miles twice because the first time, my mic wasn't working and the piano overpowered the voice. And then I forgot half of If You Believe, ripped out the entire middle section because I missed the right section. I just hope no-one noticed.

Also had a costume change from casual to my prom dress for Ave Maria, since I think singing A Thousand Miles in my prom dress would be weird and wearing casual for Ave Maria would be equally so. I love my stilettos. xD

Pretty good response to the Thousand Miles and Ave Maria though, yay ^^ Just hope Annabelle and Faith had fun. There were lots of refreshments afterward, noodles and chicken wings and eclairs and stuff, I wonder how we managed to get through half of all that :/

Okay, this post completely doesn't make sense, but never mind anyway. Today was fun. :)

So, today was caroling at Robinsons Center, in the morning anyway. It was pretty fun - acoustics were awesome, which made it sound really lush. Faith was conducting. There was this guy who kept shouting "JINGLE BELLS! I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS!", it was really amusing lol. And especially since we'd already sung Jingle Bells we didn't really wanna do that song again, but since he was so insistant Faith said we should just do Jingle Bells again anyhow xD

Everything went pretty smoothly, really cool I guess.

Had lunch at Lau Pa Sat with everyone, only thing Sherwin led us in the other direction for a bit before realising that LPS was the other way! Rofl. After that, we spazzed out for near three hours at Marina Square, waiting for Raffles Hotel caroling at night. Played at the arcade and watched the boys play pool. Deborah's such a tomboy, lol, and Pockthong's pool is really whoa.

The Parapara at the Marina Square arcade was only 50c (?!) I am so going back there to play, lol. Even though the sensors are starting to fault a wee bit, but still. 50c for a game?! Oh my goodness, seriously. Wensiu and I played Jurassic Park, this weird driving game, and bubble puzzle :) Pretty fun. We both died once we reached level three, rofl.

Anyway, later on at night there was caroling at Raffles Hotel, which was AWESOME. Our holding room had nice cakes and chocolates and stuff, damn I just wanted to eat some of everything! :/ I couldn't take pictures because I left my phone at home (seriously, I need to stop doing that) and I didn't have a cam. Oh well. Chocolate bunnies!

The sound in the lobby was kinda yuck at first, but evened out after a bit. It drizzled while singing at Raffles Square, but the people there were pretty happy with the caroling I think - pretty good applause. Oh, and apparently someone said that "That short boy (i.e. Koktong) is pretty cute", I just laughed out loud when we were told about that comment xD

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER, THE EAST INDIA ROOM. It was Totally Awesome, the people there were all in costumes and everything was candlelit and there were roses and everything! To get the people's attention this guy started tapping the glass - I never though I'd actually see that happen in real life - and he addressed everyone as Lords and Ladies! Damn, I wanted to join in the party, lol. There was this guy dressed as a judge and another woman in a gorgeous red gown, and one in an offshoulder gray one, it was lush<3

Anyway, the reception at the East India room was ______, I can't even find the words to describe it. It was completely brill! We were originally supposed to sing two songs - Joy to the World and O Come All Ye Faithful - but we ended up doing Gaudate, Silent Night, and Jingle Bells as encores xD It was amusing, Faith introduced Reuben as our Gaudate tenor solo and the audience kept doing "Whoo, Reuben! Solo Reuben!" after that. I swear we're never gonna let him off about that xD

And, apparently one member of the audience was so impressed that he gave a US$100 tip. Like, omg, seriously, US$100. That's SGD$130, I think? We were all so happy when we heard xD Shouting and everything, lol. It's a heck lot, but then again the audience was probably high society with loads of moolah so I doubt it'd've been a lot to them anyway. Still, US$100 :o

Later on we went to the courtyard to sing together with the Ritz lot, haha. Thank goodness it wasn't drizzling there. After that, went back to the holding room and that concludes my second day of caroling ;D

Ding dong ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing

CHOIR IS AWESOME. ;D

Whoa. I'm actually getting to know everyone! I've met VJChoir for like what, five times and I've got a few friends already. The bonding spirit of choir, lol. Deborah, Jialing, Wanping (did I say that right?), Charissa, Novabelle, Indri, Sherwin and others - forgive me if I haven't memorised all your names yet :/

Carolling at Marina Square yesterday was completely awesome, too. Thank goodness we didn't sing In Dulci Jubilo, I'd completely have died if we'd done that. Although what happened after was pretty tough, the zip on my gown got stuck so I got Nono and Indri to help me out with unzipping the thing. Indri ripped apart the zip from the fabric and then tore the zip itself into half, I was like "WHOA." She's got huge strength.

Anyway, got another gown from Sherwin today. Now I've got two gowns at home, one with a messed up zip and one that's too big for me, but that's better than nothing.

Only thing is that four years of being in KC has totally made me shy around boys, I'm running right past them whenever I see them, it's so awkward. Especially when I have to cut through a whole group of them, going out the door. Just today I was standing beside RaeRin for group prac, whispering to Nono, "Shite how?! I seriously can't be around boys, I seriously can't." Ahhhhhh, I think I'm better off talking to guys where I can't see them, i.e. MSN or SMS :/

So there's gonna be another carolling at the Robinsons Center on Friday, then Ritz Carlton and Raffles Hotel groups will split. And then there's A Christmas to Remember on Sunday, which I am going to screw up for because my A Thousand Miles sounds like crap and I still haven't perfected The Perfect Year. That, and my Ave Maria is bleargh. Whatever, I've got one day (tomorrow) to learn everything for the concert as well as for choir. Guess that works.

My life is so centered around nothing but music/choir, lol. Well, and chemistry, but that doesn't count right now cos I haven't been touching chem at all. I so do not have a life, but I guess that's okay cos I've got something productive to do during the hols :)

OH OH OH OH CHRISTMAS TREE!! IT'S SO GORGEOUS NOW, I spent the whole of yesterday morning setting it up and putting ornaments around it. Gold and silver. It's so lush, lots of ornaments cos we have waaaaay too many. We still had leftovers after hanging something on practically every branch so I started putting them on doorhandles and everything, lol. Grace stuck some of them to the ceiling with Blutack, and we've got tinsel hanging from the railing too. It's so pretty, now all we need is snow and our hall could be a winter wonderland<3

I want a Christmas tree in my room so that I can turn my room into a winter wonderland too.

IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC IloveVJC
I LOVE VJC.

All because I'm in for PAE, whoo! Had a bit of trouble with the HOD science for a bit though, cos my subject combination's just weird, so I had to throw out lit and replace it with math, but now I'm great :)

Tomorrow's my first performance - caroling - with the VJC choir, and I'm so excited. Had choir practice today, it was fun. In between shuttling from VJC to ACJC back to VJC to complete the appeal transfer and everything, though.

I'm so glad I'm not gonna go to ACJC, really - not that I don't like the school or anything, but it's so damn far away from where I live. Even by car, with Dad driving, it seemed like forever to get to ACJC even though it was about 20 minutes from VJC to ACJC. I'm not gonna spend an hour on the road every day just to get to school, that's ridiculous :/

Anyway, gonna spend all night tonight memorising scores and stuff. Got my choir uniform today, it's beige and has a chiffon skirt. Really gorgeous. Also bought white court shoes from Robinsons (white court shoes are part of the uniform); Dad was on leave today so the whole fam tagged along.

It's gonna be so fun at Marina Square, yay! I think the performance is at 7pm, I'm not too sure where exactly at Marina Square but it's cool. People should come support us ;D

Dad bought a camcorder today. Sony something, I'm too lazy to memorise the model, but it's got a 40gb harddisk drive so that's pretty fun. Grace was being so idiotic, when Dad took the camcorder out of the box she asked "Can I break it?" The completely adorable idiot, lol.

Also did Christmas shopping today! Shh, I'm not supposed to tell what I got for whoever, so I won't say anything.

Ooohh, and we finally got a new Christmas tree! So I guess I'm either gonna spend tonight setting it up and working into the night to decorate it, or I'm gonna do everything tomorrow. I want to set it up tonight but Mom and Grace want to do it tomorrow :( Damn.

This year's the latest that we've put off setting up the tree, bleh. At least we've got a new tree though! It's smaller than the last one - only 6 feet tall, but cos it's smaller I guess we'll have more ornaments to go around ;D A heavily decorated tree always looks lush.

Aight, PAE results were out on Thursday. I dialled the MOE PAE IVRS (whoa, Singapore really loves acronyms) and checked out my results. So for now I'm in ACJC Science, appealing to VJC Science. Got posted to my third choice for PAE, but hopefully choir'll be able to get me into first choice VJ! :D I'll know by tomorrow. Music/Chemistry/Biology/Literature, but if they insist on me taking Math I guess I'll throw lit out the window :/

Okay, results of PAE posting aside, the fam went to the movies on Friday. Grace and I watched the Golden Compass, while Mom & Dad watched the Warlords (Dad's so into ancient China :/)

The Golden Compass is pretty nice, although the ending is really weird. I thought the fight scene was very Narnia/LotR, but then again, aren't all fight scenes involving CGI animals nowadays. Still, it's worth watching for the most part :) I haven't read Northern Lights yet, Huimin lent it to me some time ago and I still haven't finished reading it.

Nothing much, mostly, since coming back from Japan. Memorising choir scores for the first carolling on Tuesday, and then there's A Christmas to Remember next week. It's quite hectic, but I think I like performances so I don't really mind.

Been putting up some new stuff on DeviantArt, pictures of Japan, mostly. Also finally uploaded my prose "Orca" there; since I didn't get through to the Golden Point awards I thought I'd just upload Orca to DeviantArt, what the heck. People reading this should check out my DeviantArt and make my day :)

I want to put up the Christmas tree! :( Dad says he'll get a new one this year because our old one is falling apart, but he still hasn't got that new tree yet.

Japan was strange. Really strange. It was sorta like being in an extension of Singapore, not really on holiday. More like, Sentosa. Ish. It was fun, though. Strange, but fun. It's like, even though it was my first time in Japan and I was only there for six days, I felt as if I'd been there loads of times before.

Just a brief summary of what happened:

First day, we landed in Osaka. Went to Universal Studios, and then to some imperial palace place. I love Universal Studios, their 4D Shrek show is awesome :) Even though everything's in Japanese and I hadn't a clue what they were saying.

Second day, visited a deer park and some temple place. The deer were sooooo friendly, they kept coming up to us and sniffing and all that! Oh, and deer sound like goats :/ It's quirky. Then headed to Kyoto for some other temple place, and we saw people in kimonos walking down the street - and GEISHA! Awesome. And, totally picturesque. Saw some Shinto shrines; it was like Inuyasha, in a way.

Third day, took the bullet train to someplace near Mount Fuji. First stopped at some place called Lake Kawaguchi, saw pretty ducks :) And, we finally saw snow! Even though it was probably in the minus range in temperature, it was pretty hot because the sun was shining right down. Except for my hands, which were freezing. I love snow. Fuji was brill. Loads of snow photos, yay. Stayed at a traditional Japanese inn, and we got to wear yukata to dinner! It was really fun, sleeping on tatami and futon and all.

Fourth day, spent most of the time on the road to Tokyo. Stuff in Tokyo is really expensive, except for the 100yen shop - which is pretty much like Daiso. Tokyo's fun though. Spent about an hour just shopping around. Stayed in the Tokyo Metropolitan Plaza hotel, by far the best hotel we stayed in during the five nights in Japan. And, the shopping near there was completely awesome :) Dad finally got a 1GB CF card for the G2! (We'd only had a pathetic 256MB before that, can you believe it?)

Fifth day, DISNEYLAND! The happiest place on Earth, haha. Took loads of rides and saw shows and stuff, I got a photo with Cinderella! Plus, Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse and stuff - oh, and I bought Minnie Mouse ears xD Pooh bear and Tigger. Everyone was wearing some sort of Disney accessory, or at least the Japanese were. We spent a total of about 11 hours at Disneyland in total, 9 from morning to night and then two hours at night, after returning from dinner and then going back to watch the Electrical Lights Parade. Fantastic parade, by the way, everything was full of color - I so wanna go back to Disneyland! Well. Maybe the one in America, since everything at Disneyland Tokyo was in Japanese and it was pretty tough to understand anything at all. I LOVE DISNEYLAND.

Sixth day, yesterday, flew back to Singapore. It was a really short time spent in Japan, but it was completely awesome anyhow :) Unbelievable, the yukatas at Narita Airport cost less than S$50?! I wanted one, but mom wouldn't allow ("Are you going to wear that in Singapore at all?")

Oh, and Faith, I'm sorry that I couldn't find your KitKat Hokkaido Milk. I looked across four cities, two supermarkets and five convenience stores in Tokyo alone, but I couldn't find your KitKat :/

And I think photographers are nice. There was this one guy on our tour, I think he must've been 20-something, and I didn't even catch a name. But it was like one of those film star/Hollywood actor fangirling incidents, he looked so cute in everything he wore - even a disgusting moss-green shirt, and the way he handled his SLR was swoon. And the fam asked him for advice on what CF card to buy, and he was so detailed about which card to buy, he spent like, 10 minutes explaining everything ("Don't get the 4gb because it may be incompatible with your G2, get a lower capacity"). And then after that he asked if the card worked fine! Okay I know he's just being nice, but. FANGIRLING. Blah, okay. You can get Mr Japan Photographer Guy out of your head now, Keitacheryl. You're back in Singapore now. Out.

Photoalbum of Japan is up HERE!

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

Well, the rehearsal on Sunday was quite near a perfect disaster. Not much went smoothly, and I completely forgot the lyrics of my Ave Maria halfway through singing it :/ I have got to memorise that thing properly before the second full rehearsal, so I'm probably gonna have to pop by Gladys' place or something to practise with her properly.

Anyway, the Christmas concert aside. Today was my first rehearsal for Christmas carolling with the VJC choir! (Damn, they move really fast with their songs :/) I've got about 18 songs to memorise before I carol with them on the 18th and 21st to 25th of December. I'm not gonna be there on the 10th and 11th as I won't even be in Singapore then. Damn, I may have to bring my scores with me to Japan if I haven't got time to memorise them properly.

Speaking of which, it's off to the airport tomorrow night! I'll be in Japan by Friday morning, should be pretty rad. Faith says Japan's awesome, so I think it's gonna be fun :)

November was so slack, but December's packed with concerts and performances. I think I like December more even though I'm busier, simply because concerts/performances mean music and that's lush, and it gives me something to do apart from lazing around the whole day, anyway.

Sunday, December 02, 2007

I GOT INTO VJC CHOIR FOR CAROLLING! AHHHHHHHHH! SHITE, HYPERACTIVE NOW. YEAH I LOVE VJC CHOIR<33 Ching Chieh SMSed me on Friday night and told me, then I was just like *%#&*%$^# omg :) So now I'm gonna be singing at Raffles Hotel, Marina Square and the like with the VJC Choir!

That aside. Visited KC Choir yesterday! :D For the performance thing during choir camp. It was really fun, seeing everybody all over again. I miss choir so much. AND THE SCHOOL HAS A NEW PIANO. Wilhelm Tell, but still, can't complain. It's way better than the old Petrof. Damn I miss singing with the choir, it's been what, nearly six months? Oh well.

AND MS KURNIA'S LEFT :( Left, because yesterday was her last day with the choir, so I bought her a nice necklace as a present. I'm gonna be missing her heck-loads. Come back to visit KC often, Ms Kurnia! And to all my juniors, I'm definitely gonna be visiting you lot whenever I can in 2008<3

I love choir.

Alright, I've got the rehearsal for the Christmas Concert at 2pm :) Better go practise my pieces now.
